I started in options trading while auditing at KPMG, moved into Standard Chartered’s Wealth Management Office, then spent over a decade as a forex and commodities proprietary trader managing real capital.
2008 changed everything. The market crash made it clear: margin and speculation aren’t a path — they’re a problem. I shifted to a fundamentals-first, halal-compliant approach where barakah and discipline matter more than chasing alpha.
I’m a former certified Takaful practitioner, so the halal side of every call is grounded in real Islamic finance — not slogans. These days I’m semi-retired and focused on teaching what I’ve learned: I write The Barakah Investor weekly, teach the Barakah Investing Blueprint, and built the Halal Stock Scorecard so anyone can apply the framework I use on my own portfolio.
